I am working as an assistant professor in the Department of Information System being part of Institute of Informatics, Wrocław University of Technology.

Research areas

• Social networks in the Internet and social network analysis.
  
  We have established Social Network Group - a research group that consists of several full time researchers, as well as some Ph.D. and M.Sc. students. Its web page is available here.
  In this area we co-operate with some companies: British Telecom, Intelligent Systems Research Centre (ISRC), Research & Engineering Center REC and Telnet. In the past also within The European Network of Excellence Nature-inspired Smart Information Systems, I coordinated its Polish members.


• Multiple model and hybrid prediction and classification.

• Web-based recommender systems
  
  • Project ROSA (Remote Open Site Agents) - web recommender system - the part of the general concept of "adaptive web sites". The prototype had been accessible on this page for the certain time (it is not maintained any more).
  • The extension of ROSA was AdROSA - the system for personsalized web adversiting, in which the recommended items were web advertisements (banners).
  • Take also a look at WindOwls - prototype e-commerce with windsurfing (at the moment only in Polish - sorry), in which 5 recommendation methods were integrated in the personalized and adaptive way, i.e. separately for each user. The site has been implemented by Paweł Kołodziejski.
  • The International Workshop on Recommender Agents and Adaptive Web-based Systems (RAAWS 2005). Selected, extended versions have been published in International Journal of Computer Science & Applications, Vol. 3 Issue 3, 2006.
  • The second edition of The International Workshop on Recommender Agents and Adaptive Web-based Systems (RAAWS 2006) was held in England at KES 2006, LNAI 4253, Springer Verlag. See also a special issue of the journal New Generation Computing (indexed by ISI).
  
  
• Data mining in information systems especially in web environment - web mining. Most recent research focuses on association rules, especially negative patterns.
